The Marlborough Berth and Mooring Association was initially formed in response to widespread dissatisfaction with rising berth costs at marinas and opposition to mooring renewals in Waikawa Bay.
A stronger voice
Individually boat owners considered that they were not being listened to and that their arguments had no weight. There are many other issues that affect berth and mooring holders, and that MBMA have been involved in.
For those who own or rent moorings, marina berth or boatsheds, MBMA provides an effective and unified voice. The effectiveness of this voice is through the level of membership.
Ongoing work and submissions
Some of the current issues the MBMA are working onĀ are coastal occupancy charges, occupation rights of moorings and discharge of effluent to the sea.
